Hangjiao 3 (Solar Flare) – A Chilli Born from Space Innovation

The Hangjiao 3, affectionately known as Solar Flare, is a groundbreaking chilli variety from China, developed through a bold agricultural experiment led by scientist Jiang Xingcun. By sending vegetable seeds into space, researchers observed unique mutations upon their return — resulting in larger pods, higher yields, and distinct appearances.

This Capsicum Annuum variety grows to a manageable 50–60 cm in height, making it perfect for both pots and garden beds. The pods are impressive in size, stretching up to 20 cm long and 2 cm wide, and go through a beautiful transformation from light green to a warm, glowing orange as they ripen.
